Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
We, NexGen Orbit Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”), created the Crystal Notes app (“App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we process information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your information and being transparent about the functionality of our product.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
We collect only the information that is appropriate for the smooth operation, improvement, and support of the App, including future monetization features if they are introduced in later versions.
Data Stored Locally: By default, all your notes, categories, and settings are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to the contents of your notes.
Crash Reports and Diagnostics in the Current Version: In the current version of Crystal Notes, we use Sentry for crash reporting and technical diagnostics. This helps us maintain App stability, identify crashes, and understand technical problems in released versions of the App. Sentry may process limited technical information, including:
- Device type and operating system version.
- App version, build number, release, environment, crash logs, and stack traces.
- General technical diagnostics and limited performance data needed to diagnose failures.
Sentry is used with privacy safeguards, including:
- Default personal information collection is disabled.
- Production screenshots and view hierarchy attachments are disabled.
- Request and response bodies are not captured.
- Note-related fields, such as note title, note content, body text, search query, and similar fields, are removed or redacted before diagnostic events are sent.
- We do not intentionally send note content, note titles, exported files, backup files, or search queries to Sentry.
Features not included in the current version: The current version does not include advertising SDKs, advertising ID collection, product analytics SDKs beyond Sentry diagnostics, accounts, cloud sync, billing, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
Possible future services: Future versions may introduce optional advertising, product analytics, premium features, subscriptions, one-time purchases, accounts, sign-in, or cloud synchronization. If such features are added, we will update this Privacy Policy and any required in-app notices or Google Play disclosures before or when those features become available. Where required, we will also provide consent options, privacy choices, purchase terms, or account and cloud controls appropriate for the feature.
3. Data Storage and Synchronization
Your core data (notes) is stored on your device. Please note that your device may have a built-in backup system (for example, Google Backup) that may automatically back up App data according to your settings. The current version does not include developer-operated cloud synchronization or server backup for notes. The App may offer optional cloud synchronization or backup services in future versions. In such cases, these features will be activated at your request, and data will be transmitted securely.
4. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
We have absolutely no interest in selling the contents of your private notes, and we do not do so. In the current version, limited technical information may be transmitted to and processed by Sentry, our trusted crash reporting and diagnostics provider, for the purpose of maintaining App stability.
In future versions, certain technical information or device identifiers may be processed by trusted partners only if the corresponding feature is actually introduced and disclosed, for example:
- Providing App usage analytics to help us improve the product.
- Displaying advertising if a version of the App with advertising support is introduced.
- Maintaining stability through crash tracking systems.
- Providing authorization features if account sign-in is introduced.
When you use export features, follow links, or send email messages, these actions may be processed by your device’s operating system or respective third-party apps, and are governed by their policies.
5. Data Export and Backups
The App provides tools to export your notes in various formats and create backups (for example, JSON). These processes are initiated by you. We are not responsible for how other apps, through which you share exported files, handle your information.
6. Permissions
We strive to keep the App’s permissions limited to what is necessary. The App may request Android INTERNET permission because Sentry needs network access to send crash reports and diagnostics. On some Android versions, file selection or import features may require storage-related permissions for compatibility. Export and import actions remain initiated by you.
The current version does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, call logs, or health data. Future features such as cloud synchronization, attachments, advertising, or account sign-in may require additional permissions only if those features are actually introduced and disclosed.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our App is not intended for the purposeful collection of personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have received such data without the necessary consent, we will take steps to delete it.
8. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
Depending on your region (particularly in the European Economic Area or the state of California), you have certain rights regarding your data, including the right to:
- Access your data.
- Correct or delete data.
Since the core content (notes) is currently stored locally, you have full control over its deletion: you can do this via App settings (Settings > Reset All Data) or by uninstalling the App from your device. If you use additional online App services in the future, you will be able to use data management tools or send us a written request for their deletion. For privacy requests related to diagnostics data, you may contact us at [email protected].
9. Data Security
We care about protecting your information and try to use commercially acceptable methods to protect it. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is absolutely secure. You are personally responsible for the security of your own device (passwords, screen lock) and backup storage.
Technical diagnostics sent to Sentry are transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Production screenshots and view hierarchy attachments are disabled to reduce the risk of capturing note content. Crystal Notes protects local notes primarily through Android’s standard application sandboxing. The App does not add its own encryption-at-rest layer and does not provide a PIN, biometric lock, or app-level security gate.
10. Data Deletion
You can independently delete your data:
- Deleting individual notes (they may be moved to the Trash for a period before permanent deletion).
- Resetting all data via App settings (will result in complete irreversible deletion).
- Uninstalling the App from your device.
11. Google Play Data Safety
When Sentry is used, our Google Play Data Safety disclosures may include limited app information and performance data, such as crash logs and diagnostics, that are processed for app reliability and troubleshooting. These disclosures do not include note content, note titles, exported files, or backup files, because we do not collect those materials.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may periodically update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date. We recommend that you periodically review this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are made signifies your acceptance of the updated Policy.
Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Crystal Notes, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. License
NexGen Orbit Labs grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable limited license to use the App on your device for personal, non-commercial purposes.
3. Restrictions
You agree to:
- Not copy, modify, or distribute the App or its source code.
- Not reverse engineer or decompile the App.
- Not use the App for any unlawful purposes.
- Not bypass security or licensing mechanisms.
4. Liability and User Data
You bear full responsibility for all content you create. The App is not intended for storing highly confidential or critically important information (passwords, seed phrases, etc.). If data is stored locally, we are technically unable to restore your information after a system crash, app deletion, or device loss. You acknowledge the necessity to independently create external backups of your notes.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided on an “AS IS” basis, without any warranties of fitness for any particular purposes. We do not guarantee that the App will be absolutely free of technical errors, or that it will be supported indefinitely on all device types.
6. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEXGEN ORBIT LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP (including data loss or leakage). Our total material liability shall not exceed the amount you actually paid us for the app or its services.
7. Monetization, Advertising, and Subscriptions
The current version does not include an ads SDK, billing, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. The App may be distributed free of charge, and we reserve the right to introduce monetization methods in future versions, such as in-app purchases, subscriptions for premium features, or display of third-party advertising.
If advertising, analytics, paid features, subscriptions, purchases, accounts, or cloud sync are introduced, we will update the relevant disclosures and Google Play information where required. If subscriptions are introduced, they may renew automatically. Subscription management, cancellation, and refunds will be governed by the rules of the respective distribution platform (for example, Google Play).
8. Changes, Termination, and Updates
We may modify functionality, close access to certain features, or completely discontinue App support at any time without prior notice and without any compensation obligations.
9. Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the applicable local laws of the developer. All disputes are subject to resolution in the appropriate courts of the developer’s jurisdiction.
